Film Found in November 2008

I found four rolls of film laying around the house.  They are a bit grainy.  I don't know if that's because they sat around a hot and cold house or if it is just "age".  It could be the drug store which stuck them onto a disk.  Bare with me, I am not the worlds greatest photographer.  I am always learning.  Some of these are better than others.  You click on the photo you want to view and it will fill the screen.  Oh, just so you know, I am putting this page together November 23, 2008.

This one must be two rolls of film.

May 2006 Home June 2006 Painting Bookcase

May 17, 2006 Nicoal "Coal" Fluffy Cat   This isn't a very good photo.  We had her put to sleep, September 29, 2006.

May 30, 2006  "Hot kitty".  This is how they lay in hot weather.  This is Dubhghall (Dougall) the website namesake.

June 9, 2006 I got the shelves from next door.  We had a garage sale probably in 2005. I was painting this "apple green". (one of my favorite colors)  Even though they are wooden shelves I was using metal paint.

June 9, 2006 The original color is this yucky gray color that you see.  I had to get some sticky spots off the shelves before I painted them.  Don't know that it came off 100%.  I left the back the gray color so I would remember just how "yucky" it was before.

June 9, 2006 I know it would have been better to strip the paint off.  I didn't want spend the time to do that.  I had this paint I like the color of.  I call it a 1930's green, don't know if it is though.  It took several coats to get it covered. If I took the paint off I might have wrecked the original finish underneath anyway.

June 2006  Backyard

June 13, 2006 Some sort of wild strawberry. The tall plant behind that is goldenrod. There's violets in there too.  This flowerbed has been taken over by the wild roses from up north.

June 13, 2006 Another one of the wild strawberry.

June 13, 2006  I think these are buttercups.

June 13, 2006 This is "pinks".  If you click on this you will see one pink flower.  It looks like a miniature carnation.  They do produce more flowers with time.

June 13, 2006 One of our peach trees.

June 13, 2006 peach tree again.

June 13, 2006 More peaches.  I think I might be trying to get a photo of the leaves.  We have a disease or problem with them.  We are trying to get it identified.

June and July 2006 Cats and Next Door

June 29, 2006 Dubhghall on the old loveseat. Notice how the magazine on the right hand side of the "sofa" says, "feel relaxed".  Well, I think Dubhghall is relaxed.

June 29, 2006

This is a fairly decent one of Coal.

June 29, 2006 Dubhghall on the "sofa" feeling relaxed again.  Her stripes almost blend in with the stripes of the sofa. Ha!

July 24, 2006 Dubhghall blending in with the ferns in the flower bed behind the house.

July 24, 2006 Coal yet again.

July 26, 2006  Coal being a "flat" kitty.

July 30, 2006 Dubhghall blending in with the rug.  If it is dark in the room she really blends in and we almost step on her at times.

July 30, 2006 Dubhghall blending in and being cute.  It isn't easy getting a photo of her being cute.  She hears the camera come out and she changes position.

July 30, 2006

Dubhghall sleeping.

July 30, 2006 Coal looking out.

July 30, 2006 Dubhghall sleeping cute.

July 7, 2006 I thought I would get a photo of the garage next door before the new owners took off the pretty ivy.  They did take the ivy off eventually.

July 24, 2006 This house was on the market or it was owned, I am not sure.  This was during the period of time when it was in limbo.

July 24, 2006  The new neighbors have done as much work on the garage as the inside of the house.  It is pretty nice in it I hear.  Of course there is not one shred of ivy on there now.

July 2006 Back Door and Backyard

July 7, 2006

Dragon fly on the back door.  I was taking this at night. It took some doing as I recall.

July 7, 2006

We may have left the "porch" light on.  We were coming back from somewhere.  I managed to get this photo before the dragon fly flew off.

July 24, 2006 Queen Ann's lace.

July 24, 2006 More Queen Ann's lace.

July 24, 2006 Wilted pumpkins.

July 24, 2006 Wilted pumpkins, possible tomato, lettuce gone to seed, weeds etc.

July 24, 2006 Bumblebee on mint flower.

July 24, 2006 Wild rose which has taken over that part of the flower bed.

November 11, 2007 Downtown Detroit
We were in Detroit reconnoitering because I had Jury duty on the 13th.  If a person has jury duty in Detroit, it is customary to drive down there a day or two before.  That way you can learn how to get there, where to park etc.  While we were going to be in Detroit, I wanted to get some photos of the buildings.  I wanted the photos as "inspiration" for my novel, The Bookcase Conundrum.  I don't know too many of the names of the buildings. You wouldn't believe how lost we got.  They aren't very good as I had to take them as we were driving along.  I managed to get the car in the photos as well as the building.  We were down there on a Sunday when the traffic is much lighter.  We also seemed to avoid the police.  Douglas drove abnormally slow at times to allow me to get a photo.  Then there was once when he stopped well short of the intersection.  "Wait! Stop here."  "I can't there's a car behind me and the light is green".

I think this might be the famous Mariner's Church.

This one is kind of how I pictured the "Rumback" hotel in my story.

Coming upon a Victorian looking house. Not sure of the age exactly. See next photo.

This is a better view of the Victorian "houses".

Another one that could possibly "pass" for the Rumback hotel in my story.

This one has colored stone work near the top. It reminds me of a sort of "South West" (Native American) inspired art deco design.  You can't tell from this photo. See the next one.

Here's a slightly better view of the building.

This was sort of an interesting looking building.

In front of us is the intersection.  Crossing the street we are on is the famous Woodward Avenue.  Douglas basically stopped in the middle of the street so I could get this and the next one.  This one is the better of the two.

Almost to Woodward Avenue.  The buildings ahead of us looked really interesting.  The way they were layered against the sky.  Good thing there wasn't a police car anywhere around us.  The picture before this one captures the scene much better.

Trying to get a whole row of buildings.

December 24, 2007 Dubhghall being a "Flat" Kitty

I like it when Dubhghall sleeps like this.

It is very difficult to get her photo as she does this.

She hears the camera and moves.  She must have been dead tired, or I was quieter than usual.

November 27-28, 2007  Trying to get Photo of Woodpecker on Birdfeeder
For these I had to stand away from the window and zoom in.  It wasn't easy getting the woodpecker in the viewfinder.  If the wind blows the birdfeeder sways.  We saw a woodpecker in the street out front of our house recently.  It wasn't alive.  It was sort of sad to see it there.

November 28, 2007

November 28, 2007 There is an interesting way the woodpecker eats from this feeder.  Because of it's long beak it curls it's body around the underside of the feeder.  It doesn't sit on top like most birds do.

November 27, 2007

Trying to get the bird curled under the feeder as it eats.

November 28, 2007 This one is a bit blurry.  It does show some birds in flight though.

January, July, September 2008 Miscellaneous Photos

January 2, 2008  Cold bird on feeder.  The bird was trying to use the feeder as a windbreak as it seemed to sleep.  The wind was really blowing that day. I don't know how it stayed on there. This one wasn't easy to get.

July 9, 2008 Don't know what I was trying to get a photo of.  Perhaps it was a bird?  Possibly the woodpecker. This is a nice photo of the "green" around our house.

July 3, 2008 Trying to capture Dubhghall being cute.  Another difficult one.

July 3, 2008 There is a thing Dubhghall does where she cups her face in her paws as she stretches.

July 3, 2008 I was trying to capture that with these three pictures.

September 23, 2008

Is this a mouse or a vole?  Dubhghall caught it.  She doesn't understand to eat what she catches.

September 23, 2008

Another view of the mouse or vole.

September 23, 2008

I had Douglas get a ruler out for this one. This photo gives you some idea how large this critter was.

July, 2008  Returning From Texas Trip
These were taken from a moving car for the most part.  Some of them are blurry. I don't know if any of the "Texas" ones were taken in Oklahoma or not.

July 1, 2008 Texas Trying to get a photo of mesquite trees.

July 1, 2008 Trying to get a photo of this house.  I like that style of architecture.

July 2, 2008 Missouri

July 2, 2008  This was taken in Missouri obviously.  I was trying to get a picture of the sign shaped like a pig.  When I got the pictures back I noticed the sign stuck in the ground advertising, "cheap signs".

July 2, 2008 This is in Missouri too.  I was trying to get a photo of two water towers.  One says, "cold" the other one says, "hot".
